Fireworks
The De Soto fireworks season lasts from June 29th through July 4th every year. The sale and/or discharge is not permitted any other time of the year. Celebrate responsibly with fireworks while complying with City Code. Here is what you need to know:
When Can You Set Off Fireworks?
Fireworks may be legally set off within city limits, but not on City property, during these times:
- July 2nd & July 3rd,10am to 10pm
- July 4th, 10am to midnight
What Fireworks are NOT Allowed?
- Bottle rockets
- Aerial luminaries (sky lantern, sky candle, fire balloon)
Where are Fireworks Prohibited?
- Within one thousand (1,000) feet of any medical building, home for the aged, City public building, and schools
- Within one hundred fifty (150) feet from fireworks stands or gas pumps
- Under, on, or from a vehicle
- Into a gathering of people
- Public property including parks, sidewalks, streets, alleys
- Cemeteries
- Inside any building or structure
When Can You Purchase Fireworks?
Firework sales are permitted during these dates and times:
- June 29th - July 4th, 8am - 10pm
Where Can You Purchase Fireworks?
The governing body grants permits for fireworks sales in early summer. The approved list of retailers and their locations will be announced before the start of the fireworks sales season.
