Trash Guidelines

Yard waste, construction materials should not be disposed of as household waste. Hazardous waste items must be taken to the proper disposal facilities. Trash bags are not required, but placing household waste in bags will help keep the cart sanitary.
- Placement of Trash Containers: Carts may be placed out for collection no earlier than 5 pm the day before your scheduled collection day, and no later than 7am the morning of collection. Place your cart within 3 ft. of the curb with the wheels facing away from the street and the arrows on the lid of the cart pointing toward the street.
- Removal of Trash Containers: It should be returned to the house no later than 7 pm the day of collection. They may be placed within a garage or storage unit or placed on the side of your residence.

If your trash falls on a holiday or a day succeeding the holiday, your trash will be picked up one day later than normal for the remainder of that holiday week.
- For example, if your trash day falls on a Tuesday during a holiday week, your trash will be picked up on Wednesday and so forth. Your trash collection will resume as normal at the start of the next week.
- If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, your trash will be collected on your regularly scheduled pick-up day.
Fuel Surcharge
In an effort to keep trash rates low, the trash & recycling contract with Honey Creek Disposal includes a fuel surcharge provision; if the national average price of diesel fuel is above $3.65/gallon for a billing period, a surcharge will go into effect. This is not a permanent charge. If the national average price of diesel stays below $3.65 for the billing period, the surcharge drops from the bill.
Your surcharge total depends on two things:
- The actual average price per gallon: a higher average price per gallon increases the percentage used to figure the fuel surcharge
- Which disposal services you use: most accounts will have a trash surcharge and a recycling surcharge, but some will have a dumpster or extra pickup fuel surcharge as well
